Starting in January 2008, adidas will be releasing the highly anticipated 'Sounds Of The City' Series, which could infact be one of the greatest collaborations released to date. Collaborating with some of the most influential record labels of our time, these are a must have for collectors of kicks and records alike. The series starts off in January with the classic reggae label 'TUFF GONG Records' Pro Model, followed by February's 'BLUE NOTE Records' Pro Model, March's 'MOTOWN Records' Superstar, April's 'JAM Records' Superstars and finally May's 'ALLIGATOR Records' Superstars.

What can we say? Limited Edition 'Ice Cucumber' drink only released in Japan. Being avid Pepsi drinkers, we had to hit up eBay and had a bottle sent to us for $18. We were going to hold out until our next business trip to Tokyo to pick some up, but when we found out how limited it was, we couldn't take the chance. We've been waiting a while now to rip this jem apart....WTF? First of all, you rip off a old skateboard company logo, that most of your clientelle are too young to remember, that wasn't even that dope to begin with, and thought you could start a 'Trend' using that as the foundation. Are you kidding me? This looks like a $10 novelty cap from the San Jose Sharks Souvenir shop. That, or a promo item for JAWS 3. Maybe a 'Daffy Duck' color way for a Disney X Goodfoot collaboration? Please.
Don't get me wrong, we're not dissin' Goodfoot....Just their attempt at originality and freshness. NEXT!

Sony & Pileus - "displays of the future"

First off we have the first look at Sony's new razor-thin display that bends like paper while showing full color video. The 2.5 inch display is only 0.3mm thick! Sony said," In the future, it could get wrapped around a lamp post or a persons wrist, even worn as clothing". Second of all, we have Pileus, an umbrella devised by two researchers in Keio University's Media Design department that has pre-installed Flickr uploaded and wi-fi so you can browse your photo gallery while you walk in the rain. A bit distracting, sure, but no more than text messaging on your cell phone or playing your PSP. Pileus also has Google Earth-driven GPS, a built in camera, compass, and a motion sensor. It's just a prototype for now, but its co-creators are actively seeking commercial interest.

Why stop at pencils, erasers, plush toys and stickers? Why not start your own Airline! Now, every girl you knew growing up, who collected Hello Kitty, can now collect something else...Air Miles! That's right, Taiwan's Eva Air has just announced their new 'Hello Kitty' fleet of aircraft with service from Thaiwan to Japan. From some of the pictures sent to us (not shown), they have even reupholstered all of the business and economy seats with "Hello Kitty" print fabrics......Even the boarding passes have 'H-Kit's' picture on them.....What's next, Choco Cat Bus lines? PLEASE!
The Circle- "New YVR Location"

Originally from Whistler, BC, The Circle has recently opened their second location in Vancouver's, ever expanding, Gastown district. The shop is a nice balance of both apparel and footwear from brands such as Nike, WE, C1rca, etc. and have a uniquely designed skateboard room at the back. Upon entering, you'll notice the Onyx tinted, mirrored fixtures which look like some futuristic artifacts left at Roswell by alien visitors...secret panels on the sides, open to reveal the change rooms. Dope! The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and a welcomed asset to Vancouver. Check them out at www.thecircleyvr.com

Thank god for Amazon.com! This little bundle of knowledge is unfortunately out of print, but we were able to track down a copy recently on Amazon.com. Originally released in 1994, "The New Beats" is one of the best, well written documentations of the Hip-Hop culture. It's the kind of book you want all your 'wannabe 50 Cent' friends to read. Hell, this is the kind of book we would give to our parents in order for them to understand the difference between A Tribe Called Quest and 'Lil Jon.... A must have for any distinguished Hip-Hopper's library.
